April Lockhart
April Lockhart was born on July 4, 1995. When she was in the seventh grade, she started playing guitar and piano classes, which ignited her passion for music writing. April Lockhart wrote her first song, Different at the age 12 years old. At 14 old, she spent the majority of her time making song concepts and perfecting her music. Over the next few months, she started taking notes together with her dad on trips to LA as well as NY. April started to incorporate additional relevant subjects into the song, which she called the Take my Hand song for some friends, such as peer-pressure issues and suicide among teens. Lockhart also enjoys an increasing popularity as a lifestyle influencer and works for popular clean beauty company Ilia. The disability she has is part of her persona, however it's not all of the picture. Lockhart's profile on Twitter doesn't shy away from her status as disabled, but neither does it make a point of it. What message does it convey? It's this That we all carry numerous identities. We're much way more diverse than we think we're. Lockhart speaks through video from Nashville. "I don't want it to define my existence. I don't want to be only identified as a specialist in disability. It doesn't impact my daily life. I go about doing my job as normal and have developed my own methods to adjust. This is a major part of my life, and it's imperative that we talk about the subject. The journey of self-acceptance that Lockhart has taken will be one that lasts a lifetime, but she has been a source of inspiration with regard to this. Still, she acknowledges going through phases of insecurity with her physique and being uncomfortable in certain clothes which showed her arms. Nowadays, she can wear whatever she likes. And she posts her photos on social media. Self-love, according to her, is a kind of journey. "I believe that you'll be in that place," she said. It's a fact that I see for everyone, whatever they are struggling with. I think it's essential to surround yourself with those who can identify and feel your heart.
