Nadia and Carol

Nadia Comaneci (Gheorghe Gheorghiu Dej, now Onesti) Romanian Gymnast born on November 12, 1961. She was the first Romanian to receive a score of 10 at the Olympic contest. Comaneci was first discovered by Bela Karolyi, later to be the Romanian gymnastics coach when she was just six years old. She first competed at the national junior championships in Romania in 1969 she placed 13th. Then in the year 1970, she won. The first time she competed in an international event, which was an preolympics junior event for nations in the Communist bloc, she won 3 gold medals. Then in 1973 and 1975 she was awarded the All-around Junior Champion. In her first international competition as a senior in 1975 she bested the Russian Lyudmila Turishcheva who was a five-time European champion, winning four gold medals and one silver. She took home the American Cup in New York City in 1976 becoming the first female to do a backward double salto as a dismount from the uneven bars that are parallel. Carol Wayne.........................Carol Wayne was an American film and TV actor best recognized for portraying Art Fern's Tea-Time Movie Lady on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson. As a teenager Carol Wayne started working in the entertainment business performing as figure skater. Together with her younger twin brother Nina Wayne she was part of the traveling show Ice Capades. Carol Marie Wayne is a US citizen born September 6 1942 in Chicago, Illinois. Carol started her professional career as an entertainer when she was in her teenage years. She began her professional career by performing figure skating with Nina Wayne, her younger sister in one of the touring entertainment programs Ice Capades. Ice Capades was a show that featured skating on ice performed by actors.
