Julia Fiona Roberts is the daughter of Betty Lou Bredemus, and Walter Grady Roberts. She was born on 28 October 1967 in Atlanta. Her great-grandfather John Pendleton Roberts, a farmer who was also one of the first Roberts to move to Atlanta. Her father's passion for theatre was inherited by her. in theatre from an early time. While he was a pupil in Emory University from 1952 to 1954, he was a part of several productions. When he was stationed in Biloxi Mississippi, he received his induction into the Air Force in 1953. Betty Lou Bredemus was also in the production. In 1955, the couple got married and, in 1956, their son Eric Anthony was born. Walter was enrolled in Tulane University, New Orleans Louisiana. In the year 1957, they left the airforce and Walter began his studies at Tulane. Walter was hired to work for Atlanta Academy Theater and Harrington Scenic and Lighting Studio to work on the set of Bum Bum and His Buddies, which aired in Decatur Georgia. Walter as well as Betty Lou produced a Saturday morning local television show for kids known as Bum Bum and His Buddies in 1964, a project that they funded themselves. They also founded the Actors and Writers Workshop in the year 1964, and it was in operation for a period of 6 years. They were joined by Lelisa Billingsley (also known as Lisa) as well as Julia (also called Julie) at the time.
